As I Lay Dying - Decas

To commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the bands’ existence, we released a celebratory LP containing three originals, four cover songs, and several remixes of songs from our back catalogue. My favorite part of the whole process was learning, dissecting, and re-recording tunes from the legendary bands Slayer, Judas Priest, and Descendents. Figuring out the way Priest built harmonies for “Hellion,” and also the way they wrote their leads for “Electric Eye,” helped me improve my style tremendously. Creatively analyzing and learning from your heroes is a powerful and fun way to progress at your craft. I’ve since made learning other artist’s approach a mainstay in my practice routine.
